Composteerbare verpakkingen zoals de bio-plasticzakjes niet bij het gft horen? Het klinkt misschien logisch: als iets composteerbaar is, mag het toch gewoon in de gft-bak? Helaas werkt dat in de praktijk nét even anders.
Gft wordt binnen enkele weken verwerkt tot compost. Composteerbare verpakkingen hebben daarvoor meer tijd nodig, ongeveer 12 weken. Daardoor raakt het proces verstoord en wordt de compost vervuild. Gooi deze producten daarom bij het restafval. Doe je dat al? Goed bezig!
Er is toch één uitzondering: speciale biozakjes met het OK Compost- of Kiemplantlogo mogen wél bij het gft. Want deze zakjes breken snel genoeg af tijdens het composteerproces.
